Last year I took an extreme road trip across the country. I managed to go to all 50 states, and I pushed myself to venture outside of my personal comfort zone. I slept in my truck some evenings, and other evenings I opted for camping. I rarely paid for hotels because I didn’t want to spend that much money. If I had to go to the bathroom, I had to improvise by finding somewhere to stop or by just going out in the woods. It was a real adventure, and one of the hardest things for me was getting to sleep and spending so much time without a cooling system. Before the trip, I was used to being able to adjust my air conditioning to run at whatever temperature I pleased. I was rarely in a hotel or even a temperature-controlled building for that matter, so the luxury of being able to adjust a cooling unit was not a part of our trip. There were many days when I felt disgusting because the humidity made me extremely sticky and unclean. I yearn for our cooling system back home. However, I stuck it out. By the time I reached our 50th state, I was ready to return home. I made some good memories on that trip that I will never forget. I met some lovely people, ate some wonderful food, and took plenty of beautiful photographs. I will never forget the experience, and I am glad that I made time to do it. But I am glad to be back at my house with our cooling system, our own bathroom, and our own bed.
