When my girlfriend and I decided to remodel our bathroom, the two of us should have taken more time to research a reliable as well as knowledgeable plumber to complete the job. Instead, we listened to the recommendation of her older sister and hired a plumber who we ended up hating. We hired the plumber to install new pipes, drains, install the tub and sink, and put up a ceramic tile surround. My girlfriend and I planned to do all of the finish work on our own. The priority of the project was to fix the problems with drainage. The tub, sink and toilet were always in need of plunging. We determined that there was a severe bend in pipes hindering proper drainage. We instructed the plumber to put in a strait linking pipe between the tub as well as toilet to promote superior flow of wastewater. The plumber repeatedly asked us about him handling drywalling, laying down the floor, and painting. We kept reminding him that we planned to complete that aspect of the project. While my girlfriend and I were out of the house for the day, our plumber completed the upgrade of the pipes as well as started putting down the new floor. We caught him, and discovered that he’d once again put in a drainage pipe with a sharp bend in it. Since that was the exact opposite of what we asked for, we instructed him to rip it all back out and start over. By the time the project was finally done, the two of us just wanted the plumber to head out and never come back. He did not design the pipes at all the way we planned. He did a horrible job installing the tub and toilet, and so they both leaked. He laid the floor and started installing the drywall, even though we didn’t want him to. Since my girlfriend and I suspected that he was rushing to hide his mistakes, we took everything down and ended up doing the whole project on our own.
