A category 3 hurricane just ripped through my town causing widespread power outages and flooding. I am very lucky that my house is totally fine. We don’t have any large trees nearby and our hurricane shutters held up really well. However, unfortunately the power went out and the electric company said we have to wait at least a week to get our power back on. I guess I shouldn’t be complaining because we have no damage to our house, but I didn’t realize how hard it is to live without electricity! The worst part is definitely not having an air conditioner. Living without an air conditioner is impossible here in the south. We have our air conditioners running 24/7 from at least March until October each year. We actually just had an HVAC company come install a new thermostat in our house last week that connects to our air conditioner as well as our wifi. I can turn the air conditioner up or down straight from my smart phone. I was so excited to have this cool new thermostat and then just a few days later, this hurricane hit and now we don’t have any way to cool us off! I might head down to the local springs later and take a dip in the cool water. I think that’ll help. It was tough to sleep last night without an A/C, but somehow I made it through. Now, I just have to wait it out and hope that the electric company gets the power back on sooner rather than later!
