Ever since moving into our new place, I have been on a mission to repair it. The condo is over a hundred years old, and has been largely neglected. The plumbing, electric, heating and cooling systems were easily old and in poor condition. It took me some time and a great deal of money to update all of the plumbing, wiring, heating unit and a/c. Despite all of these changed, the condo still suffered from hot and chilly spots, unpleasant stinks, and the bi-weekly energy bills were ungodly high. I realized that I had neglected to make any improvements to the ventilation system. I hired an Heating, Ventilation and A/C company to inspect the HVAC ducts and provide recommendations. Just as I had suspected, the duct system was allowing the heated and cooled air to escape through several holes and leaked through the seams. This was also allowing unconditioned and polluted air into the condo, and forcing the Heating, Ventilation and A/C system to run longer. Plus, the HVAC duct was blocked with a buildup of contaminants, such as dust, mold, mildew, pollen, and bacteria, which was degrading indoor air quality levels. I was relieved that the duct system was able to be reused. It simply required professional sealing and cleaning to restore total airflow. Once these services were complete, I noticed a major difference in the cleanliness and comfort of our condo.
