I used to be part of a band in university. My apartment was the spot that we practiced too. My apartment used to be an old farm house. That means that there are numerous entrances and lots of open rooms. My band would practice upstairs in what can only be a storage room of sorts. It was a sizable section with lots of plugs and a few windows. It was perfect to have a drum set, store guitars as well as run our amplifiers. The issue was how overheated it would get in the summer season. The amps, electronics plus our body heat was an intense temperature. Heat also rises and we easily noticed it in this area. The windows were old so they barely opened for us. So we had basically nothing in terms of keeping cool air inside. The people I was with and I purchased a few box fans plus window A/C units for upstairs. The cooling power was not able to keep us cool, however. By the end of a jam session we all would be exhausted. Also having no central air conditioning was a terrible thing for the equipment. The people I was with and I would get hot, however so would everything else. It is not fantastic for amplifiers as well as electric instruments to get too hot. The people I was with and I easily should have invested in an a/c. However we were all about 17, so calling a Heating plus A/C dealer for a/c replacement was not on the list of priorities. I still play drums now that I have my own area to practice. The first thing I did before I played was get an air conditioner installed in our house. I now will never play my drumset without the A/c.
