I normally keep my schedule open but there are some things on my schedule that can’t be changed such as Monday night suppers and Monday night football. My work keeps me swamped with things to do both in and out of the office. I am an attorney and I work for a giant law firm and frequently I have to take my work to my residence. I take the job legitimately seriously because I assume that people are depending on me to get them out of jail or keep them out of jail. So when Monday night found me dripping with sweat bullets in an auditorium with a complete lack of air conditioning listening to someone carry on and on about bail reform I was not cheerful. But, when you are asked by one of the partners, you cannot say no. If only I had left the office earlier I would not be here suffering from a lack of ventilation and air conditioning. Back at the lake house I was sure my lovely wife was enjoying the game in the cool comfort of our centrally heated and cooled lake house and eating fried cheese sticks cooked in the fry daddy I got for my birthday last year. I could not take it anymore and finally stood up in the middle of the lecture, walked over to the wall where the temperature control was, and pushed the ‘temp down’ button until it reached the lowest setting. The speaker stopped speaking, the room went quiet, and then before I knew it all eyes were on me and the temperature control. I interrupted the whole thing and was so embarrassed! Then, in the dead silence we all heard the air conditioning turn on and felt air coming out of the vents. The room erupted in applause along with the speaker!
