I think of myself as a bit of a frugal person. I always look for the best deals. It doesn’t mean that I am cheap; however, I don’t like to waste any of my money. My wife is exactly the opposite of me, and she will spend any amount of money she thinks necessary to get the best of everything. For our fifth anniversary, we decided to go to a really nice bed and breakfast inn. Some our friends had been to that destination once before and they claimed to have had a wonderful, romantic time there. Sold, we booked our reservations for Friday and Saturday night. My mother-in-law agreed to babysit our three children so that we’d have nothing to worry about while away for the entire weekend. My wife likes everything to be perfect, so I made sure the room setup was exactly the way she would like it. I had room service leave a bottle of champagne and a bowl of fresh blueberries and raspberries for us when we got there. We arrived a little past eight o’clock on Friday evening. The room was beautiful plus the ensemble matched perfectly. It had been a very cold afternoon and the drive was a bit unpleasant. I ran a bath for my wife and walked over to turn the heating unit up a tad. As soon as I did so, noises starting happening. First, the heating unit started making soft, whirring sounds, and after a few more minutes, it started smoking. I called down to the front desk and they sent us a maintenance person a few minutes later. The heating unit is completely broken, but they would be able to repair it in the a.m. Luckily, we still had a fireplace.
