When my spouse and I first got married, we thought our families were completely different from one another. My family happens to be very spontaneous, dramatic, and fun-loving. His family is incredibly serious, dependable, and perfectly logical. While we still agree that there are many differences, this week, we learned that our grandfathers and grandmothers are very similar in a great deal of ways! On Thursday, we went to my grandparents’ for a nice supper. My own grandma had made roast chicken, baked potatoes, carrots, corn casserole, in addition to salad. For dessert, there was ice cream cake. Roast chicken is certainly one of my favorite meals, so I gobbled it up as fast as possible. It was then that both of us noticed how warm it was inside. I sneaked into the hallway to check on the thermostat and noticed that this was set at 85 degrees! Now, I am not a proponent of freezing your house with overabundant A/C, but 85 degrees seemed to be incredibly hot! I mentioned it to my granddad, and he said that he previously had been setting the thermostat at that temperature for a while to keep things toasty! The other night, we went over to visit my husband’s grandparents’ house. Truth be told, we sat down to a delicious meal of roast chicken, baked potatoes, carrots, corn casserole, and salad. For dessert, there was ice cream. I almost burst out laughing when I saw all the food! It was just such crazy coincidence that both of our grandparents would cook us the exact same meal on different days. My husband got a bit concerned about this coincidence. He stole a look at the thermostat, and just like he anticipated, the thermostat was at 85 degrees! Our grandparents can be different, but when it comes to their food and air conditioning preferences, they are identical!
