Last Wintertime was exhausting. I worked long hours at the office because my company was short-staffed, & I never had any personal time. Even when I wasn’t physically in the office, I had to be available by iPhone in case of an emergency. When February came around, I decided to take a week-long holiday. I wanted to go someplace to relax & escape my tasks at work. I decided to rent a lodge in the mountains. The one I chose was so removed from the town nearby that it didn’t have WIFI, cable, or central heating & air. That was good by me. I knew that I would actually have to chop wood for the wood-burning furnace simply in order to stay sizzling all week, so I made sure to take a wonderful ax with me. The first few nights were actually pretty great. I would wake up in the morning, drink a hot cup of coffee, read a book, & go out to chop wood. After that, I began to miss the comfort of actually having a heater. Although I wasn’t really that able to take any work-related iPhone calls that week, I still had to spend a lot of time chopping the wood outside. When I suppose about how convenient it is to control a oil furnace using a thermostat, I realized that I loved to be able to press a button & kick back in the comfort of my home. When I finally returned from holiday, my mind was in much better shape, even though I had sore arms for a number of nights. It was extremely nice to relax beneath the air vents & take in the sizzling air without having to really do anything.
