Last year, my wife and I bought a house for the first time. It’s a 4 bedroom two-story house with a huge backyard. We are hoping to start a family soon so it is perfect! We had a pretty tough time finding a house in the market last year. We spent months looking and put in several offers before we got this one. One of the major selling points was the brand new HVAC system. We live in an area that gets very hot in the summer and fairly cold in the winters a decent heating and A/C system is essential. We moved in last summer and the A/C worked perfectly. But this summer, exactly one year after we bought the house, the A/C broke down. How better to celebrate the experience than by having your supposedly brand new A/C break? We haven’t had any other major things break in the house yet and so far no other issues, but we were definitely not expecting issues with the A/C. We got some quotes from the HVAC companies in our area and they said it would be $1200 to fix it. I called the manufacturer to look into if it was still under warranty, but apparently the system that the prior homeowners purchased was a refurbished system and only has a one year warranty! I am not very happy to say the least. We are going to have to fix the A/C right away because it’s starting to get hot and lo and behold, I just found out my wife is pregnant! Guess I’ll be working a lot of overtime this year!
